Day 4 | Learn As Much As You Can

“My children, with whom I am again in labor until Christ is formed in you…” - Galatians 4:19

It’s been trumpeted by many nutritionists, therapists, and trainers that change is better achieved and sustained in small steps, instead of one big leap. The reason is because real and beneficial change needs time to happen. So don’t rush it. But you should neither take shortcuts; because, in reality, there is none. True change doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time.

Interestingly enough, while He was on his quest to bring salvation to mankind, Jesus Christ never took shortcuts nor detours. Our Savior trudged every single mile of the Via Dolorosa all the way up to the Hill of the Skull where He died. But as He was making that journey, Jesus “learned obedience from the things which He suffered” (Hebrews 5:7-8). As you slowly but steadily progress in your self-development, take also the time to understand the valuable lessons that come with it. God is teaching you.

Surprisingly, some of these lessons that God taught in life and ministry are better understood in hindsight. For example, Joseph learned that what his brothers meant for his demotion was actually God’s plan for Joseph’s elevation (Genesis 50:20). Obviously, as he was going through every mishap and trouble in life, Joseph was also learning the lessons that God was teaching him at that time. Eventually, Joseph got better than his brothers.
You, too, will also get better as you remain to pursue your vision of a more accomplished life. Don’t take shortcuts or detours. Stay the course. You’re going to get better!
