“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.” - Psalm 127:1

The new year is just a day or two away. For many of us, it could be a continuation of a life journey or perhaps, a beginning of a new one. Still to others, the new year could be the first time that you would build the foundations of your dream like a relationship, a business or even, a ministry. Whatever it is that you seek to build or to accomplish, consider God and what He has to offer to you.

We ought to realize that life is divine. God gave it to us and He himself sustains it. Without God, there is no life. And to live life apart from God, life loses its meaning, purpose and value. Life is reduced to absurdity (Ecclesiastes 2:11).

The indispensability of God is not only seen in the creation of life itself, but equally so, in the proper maintenance of life. For instance, as children of God, whatever it is that we do, in words or in deeds, we ought to do them in consideration of God and His glory (Colossians 3:17). In this way, life gets richer and more meaningful, as opposed to a life without any consideration of God.

To miss and neglect God in the equation of life is to court trouble and ruin. We could only go so far with our meager talents and skills. But with God on our side directing and enabling us, then we can see our dreams built, our aspirations achieved and our destinies reached!

But how does one uphold and honor God?

First, consider the supremacy of God. Since God is the creator and maintainer of life, then it is only fitting that He takes supremacy and pre-imminence over us. When God is supreme over your family, career and vocations, it means that our Almighty God is ultimate authority and ruler, thus, we honor Him with our devoted submission and obedience (1 Corinthians 15:28, Colossians 3:11).

Second, consider the will of God. Life is too short and fragile to be lived groping in darkness. The will of God is what He has revealed to us His children. Knowing God’s will through prayer, meditation and teaching of God’s sent ones, enables us to live our lives more successfully and meaningfully (James 4:13-15).

Third, consider the word of God. God’s words give us tangible and real time guidance on every facet of life including marriage, business, finance, relationships, world issues just to name a few. Obeying Gods words, as they are taught by the sent ones of God, will keep us from making fatal mistakes in any of our life’s undertakings (2 Timothy 3:16).

Fourth consider the ways of God. God’s ways are our patterns and models to govern our actions in dealing with all sorts of challenges we meet each day. God is the revealer of what is right for man to emulate. With the sent ones of God thru our beloved apostle in the church, we are now in a better position to live our lives more God-honoring and God-glorifying! (Micah 6:8, 1 Corinthians 4:17).

This year, stay and remain with God. Seek Him to reign over every aspect of your life and service to Him. In doing so, your success is guaranteed and assured!
